Following the press release regarding our proposed scheme at Foss Islands Road York, (shown below dated 13th March), we were delighted to see that it was published widely both on internet sites of various journals but also across several local and regional newspapers.
In the York newspaper The York Press, the article received 22 comments from the public some of which were very supportive of the proposed development. Whilst some had comments generalising against student accommodation, there were none putting forward negative views on this specific scheme and two very positive ones which were as follows:
Good to see private developers are still committed to investment in the city. Without doubt the usual anti student accommodation comments will be posted, regardless of the many previous statements stating the controls available under central government planning law to the COYC Planning authority. The stretch of Foss Islands Road in question is currently an eyesore, any development to improve the area so close to the city walls and an almost unique medieval gateway is to be welcomed.
Good to see a firm with a good reputation obviously committed to York investing again. They developed the retail site not far away a few years ago I think and this looks like a decent proposal which will enhance the area in place of what is pretty much an eyesore. a car-free accommodation block is also good to see.
Thank you to those who took the trouble to comment.
