Since 2014, John McGhee has been a trustee of the York City Football Club Foundation which provides various initiatives across the York and North Yorkshire region working with funders including other charities, The National Lottery, York City Council, The FA and Premier League.
The football club recently changed ownership and as a result, John McGhee was asked to take over as Chair of the Trustees of the Foundation.
He said, “The Foundation has a wonderful reputation working across York and North Yorkshire undertaking projects helping those with various needs including fitness, mental health and general well being and making a real difference to people’s lives. It isn’t all about football and so includes numerous activities supporting people of all ages and genders. It also manages the Ladies pathway including the Regional Talent Centre and York City Ladies. I am honoured to be involved”.
