Gregory Property Group of Leeds has agreed a deal to let a 4,000 sq ft leisure unit at its successful bank conversion on Skinnergate in Darlington Town Centre.
Number One Bar Ltd has leased the 2,700 sq ft ground floor and 1,300 sq ft basement for its classic bar and coffee house concept specialising in cocktails, champagne, local/world beers, coffee and light snacks.
Paul Lefevre of Number One Bar said, “The grandeur and historic nature of the building in such a vibrant location was an instant attraction for our new bar concept. The redevelopment presented an ideal space where we could really take advantage of the panoramic views across the street scene. We have now opened and our first few weeks trading has been exceptional.”
Gregory Property Group acquired the Grade 2 listed building, previously occupied by Lloyds Bank, in 2014. It secured approvals to convert the space for leisure and residential use subsequently sold the upper floors to Aveem Properties Limited which plans to deliver seven well-appointed apartments.
Director, Andrew Foggitt said, “We are pleased to have agreed this deal with such a confident and zestful operator. It is an ideal use for this busy and vibrant part of town alongside a pedestrianised zone which perfectly complements the existing restaurant scene nearby.
Carver Commercial (Darlington) and Pudney Shuttleworth (Leeds) were the joint marketing agents for the project.
